Social Networking – How to build relationships.

Social Networking – Patience, Attraction, NO chasing!

Social Networking sites can be invaluable in helping to build a contact list,  promoting your business, and boosting your Search Engine ranking,  but they should be used for building relationships, and NOT for direct selling or prospecting.

There are many Social or Business Networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Ecademy, LinkedIn, Twitter, Xing, Better Networker, Naymz, Ryze, StartUpSpace, and many others. And new ones keep springing up regularly.

Once you have established your Internet prescence (your Blog, Website, Squiddoo lenses, HubPages, or whatever, sign up to three or four of the Networking sites, and get to know them.  Most of them have tutorials showing how to set up, and use them.

In particular, the training material provided by Thomas and Penny Power on Ecademy is excellent.  It is ongoing, and covers every aspect of using Social Networking as an Internet Marketing tool.

Create as many links as you can between your profiles on these sites, and between them and  everywhere else that you have an Internet presence.  Doing this will dramatically boost your Search Engine ranking.

Once you have mastered the first three or four, you can sign up to as many as you can manage effectively.  But, each is time consuming, so do not get carried away.

Spend as much time them as you can, just being friendly, joining in discussions and conversations that interest you, and establish your presence.  Visit other blogs and comment on articles that interest you.

As people get to know you, like you and trust you, the opportunity to tell them what you do will come.  But even then do not pitch your product or service.

You have already told them what you do, and they will come to you when THEIR need makes them ready to purchase.

BE PATIENT,  ATTRACT and DO NOT CHASE.  Chasing REPELS.

Be professional, courteous, and respectful to all contacts on all Internet sites.

Unfortunately, not everybody follows these guidelines, and you will learn from the behaviour of others, what attracts and what repels.
